visit from the “in-laws”

most people might dread their “in-laws” coming into town to stay for a couple of days but i, however, quite enjoy it. both my mother and father-in-law came into town, as well as, my sister-in-law, angela, and my baby nephew, dawson, to stay with me from wed-friday this last week. dawson has grown so much since I last saw him. he was 5 months old on wed., july 25th.  he is now holding up his head, practically sitting on his own, and reacting to facial expressions. he is a lot more fun these days and that will only continue to change as he gets older and older.

i do have to say having dawson here makes me a little excited about having my own kids one day. having him here though gives me some mixed emotions. when he was laughing and interacting i couldn’t get enough of him. however, when the crying began i felt a little stressed out, and he isn’t even my baby. i am sure the two even themselves out in the long run, especially when he smiles and plays with you. he is such a cute baby.

the reason most of this post is about dawson is because these days it is all about dawson. his grandparents can’t hold him, rock him, feed him, or play with him enough. it is quite difficult stealing him away for a few minutes. it’s funny watching michael and rena “fight” over him. must be a grandparent thing. but he is well loved, and will never go without it. so all in all the visit was very pleasant and nice.

hope you enjoy the cute pics of dawson, macy, molly, and myself. you know he is cute!

happy 2nd anniversary…

the aggreement that the two of us made on how to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary was to go to cozumel, mexico with my parents (see previous post). but my wonderful husband surprised me with another little anniversary trip. keeping it a secret…friday after he got of work he took me to the hilton in downtown fort worth where we stayed on the “executive” floor with all the really rich people. chris is a gold hilton honors member which allows us to stay on that floor. (all that traveling with schaeffer precision alignment paid off) we had all kinds of little perks. for one they serve snacks, alcohol, and unlimited soft drinks and water in a room that only the “executive” people can take part in on the “executive” floor. and it was FREE! yea! so that was fun.

chris also took me to eat dinner at texas de brazil (completely over ate!) and then we went and watched “four day weekend” a comedy club in downtown. we have been to four day weekend many many times, and it was where we went on our first date up in dallas back in my nursing school days. they were hillarious as usual and if you haven’t been to the show and are up in ft worth you should really think about going. you will laugh until it hurts. we had a wonderful night.

as for our gifts to one another. i couldn’t wait until July 9th to give him his gift so i gave it to him yesterday. i gave him a really nice guess watch, now that he is in the corporate world. he liked it very much and it looks quite nice on his wrist. he gave me a beautiful  solitare diamond necklace that i absolutely love. it is by far one of my favorite pieces of jewelery, besides my wedding rings. good job sweetie!

good times…

this last weekend i went to the wedding of my good friend erica walther. she married the man she met on a blind date a couple years ago jeff artho. i laugh at her new last name not because it sounds funny but because it starts with the letter “a.” as little girls you imagine having a name that is further up in the alphabet. i think erica won the award for moving up the furthest in our group of friends. from the end of the alphabet to the beginning. congrats erica!

erica (4)

the wedding was beautiful and lots of fun. but the best part for me was reuniting with my wonderful friends from lorena that i have known for many many years. i have shared many great memories with each of them. and i look forward to many more. so not only was erica’s wedding a time for her to unite in marriage to man she loves but was also a time for old friends to reunite with one another. for that i am truly grateful.

thanks to brandi here are some pictures from the wonderful weekend…
