cozumel vacation
cozumel 2007
i spent a week in cozumel, mexico with chris, my parents, and my aunt sissy. we had an absolute blast. chris and i did almost the same thing every day. RELAX. this consisted of eating breakfast, going to the beach, reading, getting into the pool or ocean when we got hot, then back to reading, ate lunch, went snorkeling, got in the pool, drank pina colada’s, ate dinner, went to sleep…repeat! we loved every minute of it. my parents scuba dive so they did that in the mornings and then would join us at lunch. it was so nice and laid back the whole week.

i will tell you about my snorkeling adventure. the first time out i was hesitant due to my fear of fish. don’t laugh! but once i got chris and my parents out there with me i loved it and was in fact trying to touch the fish. we saw a baby moray eel, 2 flounder fish, an anemone(like nemo’s house), and much more. it was very cool. however on my 2nd day out things were quite different. i saw a barracuda (which is why i have a fish phobia in the first place, from my cancun trip back my jr year in high school). i was doing fine at first. he was in between chris and i. i came up and yelled for chris to look at it. when he tried to see it and couldn’t i put my head back in the water to see where the sneaky scary thing went. when i did this the scary baracuda fish was swimming right at me (literally 2 feet in front of me). i freaked out. swam towards chris. couldn’t breath and was then experiencing a true PANIC attack. chris had to pretty much swim me back into the cove so i could get out of the big bad ocean. needless to say i drank my panic away with plenty of alcohol and felt much better afterwards. i did go back out to snorkel 2 more times with much reluctance. i did, however, have fun without any more panic attacks and laughed at chris trying to rearrange the ocean floor. (ask me about that sometime–haha!)

the last day there we rented scooters and rode around the entire island of cozumel. we had an absolute blast. the other side of the island is quite different compared to the tourist side and much more beautiful. chris and i wish we would have gone over there sooner during our trip.

we had a great time overall and are so glad we went!
